ITBeditor and Captain Scott Murie returned from a FAD trip off Costa Rica to report its red hot! “Over a 3 day period we fished a total of 36 hours and released 28 blue marlin,” says Murie. Murie was asked to perfom mate duties on the trip and wired more marlin on this trip then total for his career. Murie reports the marlin were in the 200 – 400 lbs range and it was a blast to see this number of fish. Murie was fishing with Captain Randy Baker on the Nomad based out of Los Suenos. The FAD fishing continues to attract many crews but unfortunately in recent months the Costa Rica commercial fleet has found the FADS and is harvesting a significant number of marlin. “We’ll see how long it lasts,” says Murie. For now the fishing continues to extremely productive.
