Greetings From Isla Mujeres

January 12, 2015 Greetings from beautiful Isla Mujeres, Mexico! An off year of fishing last year combined with a booking issue at Villa Vera marina and hotel have seemed to slim out the fleet for this season. It is early yet however and apparently there are several boats in Key West waiting to make the shot across after the weather calms from the most recent front. Due to the fact that many boats are standing by for catch reports to determine if they will come or not, we will do our best to convey info regarding the arrival of sailfish into local waters. So far, with just a few boats here and fishing to go on, the bite has been on the slow side. We did hear a report of the boys on the Sea Hag making taking a look up north the other day before the arrival of this latest front and finding a handful of fish in just a couple hours fishing time. At the moment, crews are waiting for the strong NE winds to lay down a bit with the hopes that the wind/weather change may have been what it takes to move some bait and sails closer to the island. The island is still the same great place and were hoping for Isla to return to it old form this year. Stay tuned to in In the Bite as we will be consistently providing catch reports in hopes to get some more friends down here! Tight Lines, Mike Calabrese/Don Teo
