O-Ring & Hooker Ballyhoo Rig

baitbox

O-Ring ballyhoo rigs sit ready to go in this bait box. The O-Ring Hooker combo baits sit pictured to the left here. Its a great marlin bait when you are trolling a little faster and want a little smoke trail and popping action with a ballyhoo, It also protects the bait from washing out.

O-Ring & Hooker Ballyhoo Combo Deckhand Rob Killey 75-foot Jim Smith, Gina Lisa 2 stars Supplies Needed: copper wire, small o-rigs, rigging needle and Hooker lures We caught up with Rob rigging his baits for the Custom Shootout in the Bahamas. We use an 8/0 circle hook with this bait, he reports. The most important point to remember with this rig is to make sure the o-ring is snug to the Hooker head. You dont want the o-ring and copper wire extending out of the plastic lure for two reasons: One, the lures will fall off easily in your bait box and two, you want your hook to ride snugly on the lure to prevent it from hooking back into the bait. He says that it important to position the o-ring right on the end of the ballyhoo bill before you pull it through the lure. A rigging needle is used to pull the o-ring through the lure head.
