Gulf Shores, Ala. October 13, 2016 Saunders Yachtworks has added one more item to its portfolio of marine-related services: long-term dry storage. According to Saunders CEO John Fitzgerald, starting November 1, customers will be able to store their boats for an extended period of time in a newly constructed dry storage yard at the company primary location in Gulf Shores, Ala. As the number of boats using our coast has increased, we have seen a corresponding increase in demand for out-of-water storage, Fitzgerald said. Our new yard expansion will provide a safe, secure and convenient place to store boats on-the-hard during times like hurricane season, winter months, or any period our customers will be away from their boats and dont want to worry. Access to the Intracoastal Waterway and high elevation allow us to offer an easy storage solution with the convenience of scheduling additional boatyard services as the boats come in and out of the water, Fitzgerald said. The 42,000-square-foot storage yard will accommodate power and sail vessels up to 50 feet inside a fenced perimeter with security lighting and power hook-ups. Customers will have the option to dry dock or leave the boats trailered. The Saunders family has been in the marine service business in coastal Alabama since 1959. With skilled technicians and craftsmen in all areas, Saunders manages projects ranging from routine maintenance to major refits and repowers. The company operates a full-service yacht yard in Gulf Shores that accommodates vessels up to 130 feet with a 165-ton lift. A second yard, located in Orange Beach, offers 60-ton lift capacity with full-service and do-it-yourself options, as well as a ship store featuring a wide variety of boating products.
