The summer brings with it not just warm weather, but the beginning of a new era in sportfishing. The Orange Beach Billfish Classic is the first sanctioned Gulf Coast Division Tournament in the ITB Captain of the Year Cup. In the East Coast Division, it is the Hatteras Village Offshore Open that takes the honor as the first event.
In addition to the prestige, and pile of cash, boats will be fishing for a spot in the history books. InTheBite believes that by creating separate divisions, boats can compete with one another on even terms. By adding points for second and third place, the Cup provides a reflection on overall performance at the end of the year. As the race develops, with more and more tournaments lining up to become sanctioned events, we will provide updates as they happen.
The International Division kicked off with Leg 1 of the Bahamas Billfish Championship in Guana Cay. Congratulation is in order to:
1st Place; Capt. Steve Cramer, Blue Sky, 500 Points
2nd Place: Capt. Eddie Wheeler, Marlin Darlin, 300 Points
3rd Place: Capt. Jeff Donahue, Hatterascal, 100 Points
