Splash Report – All New Hatteras GT 70

It may be her classic lines. Or perhaps it is her logical interior layout. But no matter what it is, the GT70 will have traditional and modern elements that will surely impress at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show this October. On schedule to debut this fall, is the anticipated Hatteras GT70, the newest model of the popular GT series. Dennis Barker, Hatteras GT Construction Manager states, we are making great progress. This week the 2600BHP MTU engines were set for the final finish. We chose to use an upgraded engine on this model, intended for more horsepower and speed, something our customers have been looking for. However, we do have the option to use the standard CAT C-32A 1900 horsepower. Both engines are ideal for covering vast distances- for those weekend trips with the family to the Bahamas or extended fishing tournaments ready to endure any type of seas. While the structural bones of the GT70 are progressing, Hatteras in-house interior designer, Cullen Moser, continues to plan the interior styling of each space. Our five stateroom, four head layout with flexibility for crew quarters, will have the traditional GT styling and performance with an elevated and innovative look and feel. Hatteras team members diligently worked with existing GT customers to perfect the styling of the new GT70. All have contributed useful feedback making the GT70 an impressive design, made to outperform other models in the market with warm and luxurious interiors to match. We want to give it a smarter and more sophisticated look but one in which people could walk around in shorts and bathing suits after a day of fishing and not feel out of place. We are going back to our traditional roots by using classic teak interiors, clean lines juxt-a-posed with modern and innovative products and materials incorporating lively regional North Carolina artwork. Boat interiors can suffer from rooms with brass fittings that make them look like a gentlemen club. Our customer feedback was”good, smart, contemporary design with custom furnishings that are durable and versatile for years of continued use. All elements are thoughtfully integrated into the GT70. Continue to follow progress on the GT70, leading up to its reveal at the 2014 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show. Follow us on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter and Google +.
