Baits are soaking all over the world this weekend and as I’m writing this InTheBite’s Texas column editor, Captain Kevin Deerman on Legacy, just landed the new Texas State record marlin- 972.7 lbs in the Bastante Tournament. Congrats!

Legacy 972We are certainly ready to see some Texas crews post up some scores in the Captain of the Year Cup race after weather postponed the Texas Championship event. Last weeks July 4th events the Gulf Division only posted new scores for the Pensacola International Billfish Tournament which was won by Captain Ryan Long on Friction Course for the Heaviest Marlin. Captain Donnie Shear on Boy Dawg won top release points.

In the Hawaii Division Captain Will Lazenby on Golden Dragon won the Firecracker Open and Captain Steve Epstein on Huntress won the World Cup to retain the trophy for Hawaii.
