The June issue of InTheBite described how Texas is a wonderful place with just about everything the outdoorsman needs. It is full of really nice people, has lots of interesting things to do, and now, thanks to Captain Kevin Deerman and the crew of the Legacy—a new state record blue marlin.
The fish tipped the scales at 972 pounds. InTheBite congratulates all involved—including the Bastante Tournament, honoring the late Captain John Uhr. The Legacy took top marlin honors in the 2013 Bastante with a fish that went 561. This year’s fish not only wins them some tournament money, but goes into the record books as the biggest blue marlin ever caught in the Lone Star State. This fish bodes well for the remainder of the Texas tournament scene. Stay tuned for what is to come.
Captain Kevin Deerman writes the On the Docks Texas report for InTheBite (in the June issue, it may be found on page 52). Pretty work and congratulations to all involved.
