Derby Concludes Today, Big Tuna an Early Highlight
The West Palm Beach Fishing Club’s 78th annual Silver Sailfish Derby based out of the Sailfish Marina concludes today at 4 pm. All 34 boats are fishing today. Seas have subsided considerably compared to yesterdays conditions. As of 11:11 am am the fleet had released 26 sails. A total of 128 sails were released yesterday by the fleet. Team Wrenegade is in the lead this morning and is maintaining their first day lead so far. Angler Scott Robbins aboard the Team Weez In The Keys captained by Chris Zielinski landed a large yellowfin tuna this morning in the Derby. They were in approximately 100’ off Boynton Beach. It took Scott an hour and half to land the big tuna on 20 pound class tackle. The fish will likely set a new Derby record for the heaviest weight fish.
