Swordfishing Squid Tip

Squid2-copy

As featured in our June 2014 issue of InTheBite Magazine Squid Tie & Crimp Captain Matt Reed Booby Trap Supplies Needed: Squid, Rigging Floss and Crimp Here is a tip Captain Matt Reed demonstrated to the attendees of the annual Get Tight Sucka Texas Swordfish Seminar held each year to benefit Everyday Heroes veterans association. Besides taking time to show every detail of stitching together a squid bait, Captain Reed made a point to detail one of the final stages of rigging this bait. Slide a crimp down the leader and after your final stitch near the mantle, dont tie a knot and cut the floss but rather, slide the tag ends into a crimp, secure it as pictured and then cut the excess floss off. The Crimp will keep the squid from sliding up the leader before, during and after a bite and fish fight. In other words its very secure.
