Three-peats! 4th Annual Viking Key West Challenge April 5-8, 2017 Key West, Florida Forty of the world most prestigious yachts cruised into sun-kissed Key West the first week of April ready for fishing and fun at the 4th Annual Viking Key West Challenge. After a festive captain meeting with friends old and new, the fleet was ready to battle on the first fishing day. The Viking 66 Man e War, the Grand Champion for the last two years, went head to head with the Viking 62 MDALA but at the end of day one, MDALA released 12 sails to Man e War nine. A relaxed lay day fueled the teams for the second and final fishing day. Captain Ben Sharpe on Man e War released another 13 sails to win the event with a total of 22 fish and a Viking Key West Challenge three-peat. Aboard Man e War, owner Jose Smith, Sr., claimed Third Place Angler with eight releases on time. Blue Time, a Viking 82 Enclosed Bridge took Third Place Boat with Lisa Leon claiming Second Place Lady Angler. Nicole Ely on the Viking 55 Irish Twin took Second Place Overall Angler and Top Lady Angler. Deb Link on the Viking 72 Reel Blonde was Third Place Lady Angler.
