Georgetown Landing Marina, July 16, 2020—Due to concern for the health of customers, staff, and tournament participants, Georgetown Landing Marina has made the decision to cancel this year’s 53rd Annual Georgetown Blue Marlin Tournament.
As important as the tournament’s history and traditions are, the individuals at Georgetown Landing Marina noted they did not need to jeopardize the health of guests and customers in these uncertain conditions, adding that “as a business, we don’t feel we could successfully adhere to the Governor’s COVID orders while hosting such a large number of participants.”
“Additionally the potential exposure could adversely affect the continued operation of the marina, and the service provided to our valued customers,” a press release stated. “We certainly appreciate the continued support of the South Carolina Governor’s Cup Billfishing Series and the participants that have made the tournament such a success over the history of the tournament. While making this tough decision, we are looking forward to hosting the tournament in 2021.”
