Viking 80 to Serve as This Summer’s Viking Demonstrator

July 21, 2020 By InTheBite Editor

Viking Yachts—This Summer, an 80 Convertible will serve as Viking’s demonstrator boat. The 40-knot Snow White Viking 80 sports a Palm Beach Towers tuna tower, faux teak from bow to transom, the latest fish-finding technology and powerful 2635MHP MTUs.

The painted teak on this boat also covers the haunches while extending along the wings of the flybridge overhang. The mezzanine seating is something special too, featuring Ultraleather Outdoor upholstery with Bentley stitching and a drink bolster with an embroidered Viking serpent.

Cruisair Cool Breeze air conditioning distributes a refreshing zephyr through a row of recessed overhead vents behind a valance (also with a teak finish). The 22″ Garmin GPSMAP that’s recessed in the port haunch gives anglers at-a-glance water depth, temperature and other data, while the Fusion stereo and JL Audio speakers keep the beat going.

The bi-level cockpit, covering and coaming boards and mezzanine are clad in custom teak; the Seakeeper SK 35 is easily accessed via a single hydraulically-actuated cockpit sole hatch; and in a rock-solid installation, the Release Marine Trillion Series teak fighting chair is bolted to an aluminum plate laminated into the deck.

Electronics and controls are easily viewed and well-protected through the use of integrated installations. The raised teak standing platform gives the captain excellent visibility and access to all equipment, including the overhead drop-down electronics box, electric teaser reels and Garmin display.

The demo is outfitted with a full Atlantic Marine Electronics package, which includes Furuno’s full-circle, real-time sonar with pull-out controller box under the teak helm pod. The available forward lounge is the place to be on the ride back from the canyons, with its custom leg-elevating design, lumbar-supporting backrest and integrated air conditioning.

Like the mezzanine, the seating features Ultraleather Outdoor upholstery with Bentley stitching.

A neutral palette with subtle yet elegant details, the interior design delightfully complements the satin walnut joinery. The port-side sofa features a durable brushed faux suede with a windowpane stitching detail; wall-to-wall Fabrica carpeting covers salon, companionway and stateroom walking surfaces; and the day head is conveniently located just inside the salon door.

Feature-packed, the wraparound galley—complete with custom Amtico flooring, quartz countertops and a second dining area with three bar stools—provides all the appliances, conveniences and countertop space you’ll need to prepare a big meal for a hungry team of anglers or a large family. And the storage is endless, allowing you to stock up for extended fishing or cruising trips. A raised dining area to starboard includes a walnut table, an Amtico-covered platform, pull-out storage underneath for rods and has a view of the wood-framed 40-inch HD TV.

Five generously appointed staterooms comfortably sleep 10, and you can add a bunk (and HD TV) to the pantry area for a third mate or extra guest. The full-beam master suite boasts a king walk-around bed, a headboard with a custom directional textured fabric in a basket-and-weave pattern and wood crown molding. Other highlights: port and starboard maple-lined hanging closets and credenzas, a vanity/desk area with stool to port and a seating area to starboard.

“The magic of the 80 is you get both the living space and the performance,” Viking Design Manager David Wilson says. “The boat has incredible speed for its size, and there’s plenty of room for additional crew, guests and anglers.”

Come on down to the docks and see the demo. She’ll be competing in the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor Marlin Tournament (July 23-26), White Marlin Open (August 3-7), Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament (August 8-14) and The MidAtlantic (August 16-21).
