Returning to the Dominican Republic’s Casa de Campo

As more travel options start to open up, the Dominican Republic has likely been on the radar for many anglers and boaters. The Caribbean country is a well-known hotspot for sportfishing enthusiasts and casual vacation-goers alike with plenty of options for saltwater social distancing. Currently, U.S. citizens are able to travel to the tropical haven without the requirement of a negative COVID-19 test for entry. [% oiopub-banner-29-center %] According to data from ForwardKeys, the Dominican Republic has become the second most searched destination in the Caribbean among U.S. consumers looking to book during quarter one of 2021. Places like Casa de Campo haven’t missed a beat during this time and have continued planning for new and returning visitors alike, albeit with new safety and social distancing guidelines in place. To see what has and hasn’t changed, we headed to the Dominican Republic and caught up with José Gonzalvo, general director of the Casa de Campo Marina, and Marketing/PR Director Vilma Nuñez. Gonzalvo and Nuñez provided us with an update on what’s new at the resort and discussed the upcoming tournament as well as safety precautions being taken for a safer stay for anglers and non-anglers alike.
