Gray FishTag Research, a not for profit, all species, international tagging program, will be holding the first-ever Southeast Suzuki Invitational Swordfish Tagging ExpeditionSwordQuest. Mike Lund and Mike Lardani, owners of Outboard Specialties in Pompano Beach will be sponsoring the program in an effort to continue swordfish research work in Southeast Florida. On Saturday, May 1, 2021 as many Suzuki powered boats as possible will depart the Hillsboro Inlet in Hillsboro, Florida with a goal to measure, tag and release as many broadbill swordfish (Xiphias Gladius) as possible with Gray FishTag Research green spaghetti tags with the deployment of Wildlife Computers satellite tags. South Florida is the epicenter of the swordfish migration and local fishermen want to know more. The satellite tags will be programmed for a four-month duration to gain a greater understanding of the behavior and migration pattern during the spring migration in the Florida Straits with a focus on duration of depth on this well sought-after gamefish. This tagging event will provide truly valuable information. There will be a Swordfish Category and Dolphin Category with prizes from American Fishing Wire, Costa, Gray Taxidermy, Lindgren-Pitman, PENN, RJ Boyle, Seaguar, Simrad and Star brite. Additional sponsors include BealeCon Construction, Joshua Tree Foundation and Southernmost Apparel. Gray FishTag Research will supply tagging sticks, tagging supplies and custom-made study shirts to all participating boats. In the past, these study events have proven to be great collaborating events with sponsors, contributors, local captains, and mates gathering all in the name of science. The Captain Meeting is being held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at RJ Boyle Studio in Lighthouse Point Florida from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to register, receive study shirts, tagging supplies, captain buckets raffles and auction prizes and connect with the  best sword fishermen in the world.
