Walker AIRSEP: The First Choice for Sportfishing Captains

May 28, 2021 By InTheBite Digital Editor

The AIRSEP closed crankcase systems made a positive impact on engine room maintenance and the environment when it first came on the scene 30 years ago. The AIRSEP helped to keep bilges cleaner and oil fume free, and helped to lower crankcase pressure to reduce engine oil leaks. The AIRSEP CCV system continues to evolve, and is standard factory equipment on select Caterpillar®, Cummins, and John Deere engines to name a few.

Walker Engineering, the group headquartered in southern California and long known for its flagship AIRSEP CCV system, once again raises the bar for diesel engine air filtration.

Michael DeLillo, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Walker says, “The traditional stock paper air filters have a lot to be desired and often originated from non-marine engine applications. What we wanted to do is to take a second look at some of these air filters, and design an air filter line from the ground up, that is available in both a basic High Performance version, or a silencer enhanced air filter assembly, ideally suited for the yachting and sportfishing market.”

You start to see it right away in the footprint or envelope size of the Walker air filters. They deliver high air flow, which is perfect for the marine engine-room. “It’s not like you are running your vessel near a quarry with extremely fine dust, so the Walker filters may be better suited for the marine environment,” DeLillo said. “Additionally, they can provide a higher flow of air in a smaller package.”

The Walker washable air filters are designed to offer reduced air inlet restriction to improve engine performance, and reduce exhaust temperatures, proudly made in the USA. But more importantly…what are some of the top captains saying?

“Our Miss Britt fleet depends on Walker Airsep to keep our diesel powered boats ready to run every day. South Florida is one of the busiest Charter locations in the world that allows fishing 12 months a year. Reliability is a must! Being able to clean and reuse our air cleaners is a huge convenience for us!”
