Twenty-four boats competed in this initial contest, hosted by the popular Chub Cay Resort & Marina Club, located at the southern tip of the Berry Islands in the Bahamas. A total of five blue marlin, plus 24 sailfish were released by the fleet during two days of fishing. Sea-I-Sea finished in second place (one blue and three sails), followed by Big Stick (one blue and sailfish apiece). A couple of boats scored double-headers on sailfish.
Nicole Scotti, fishing aboard Gina Lisa, was named the top lady angler for the Classic. Shakedown won top wahoo honors with a 62-pound entry, while Following Seas boated the heaviest dolphin, which tipped the scales at 35.5 pounds.
“I’m very, very happy to see the participation at the Classic,” says Tournament Director Robert “Fly” Navarro. “It’s good to see things opening back up, people using their boats again and enjoying the beautiful water and bounty of the Bahamas. I look forward to the next round at the Chub Cay Invitational in a couple of weeks.”
The 2nd Annual Chub Cay Invitational will be held April 7-9, 2022. For additional information about the resort and its amenities, please visit: www.chubcay.com
