Halibut Captain wanted for 2020 fishing season.
Must be mechanically inclined enough to cover the basics and willing to roll with the punches of a fast paced busy season from May- September.
In addition to the professional guiding of anglers, duties will include first class upkeep of boat, equipment, and gear. Hours will vary, but will generally be long.
No drunks, drama queens, universal experts, or primadonna slipper skippers. You must be a fisher person- not looking for a boat driver. You should posses patience, enthusiasm, and pride. A general knowledge of fishing techniques for halibut, salmon, and other Alaskan bottom fish is necessary. You should be able to show up with a smile and pleasant demeanor no matter what train wreck you’re leaving behind. The best in this business know when to keep their mouths shut and are are workaholics with a touch of OCD. You should be able to read a room and get along with all types of people, at least temporarily.
Top wages for the field but you must be willing to show up early and leave late when necessary for 70-100 days. Must be willing to keep reels full, tie gear, and keep the boat like new. Time off will depend on weather and bookings.
If you can handle that and posses moral character and ethics, this a first class long term opportunity on an excellent team. As long as things are going well, you will not be micromanaged.
