Valhalla Boatworks: Complete Fleet at FLIBS

October 6, 2021 By InTheBite Digital Editor

Valhalla Boatworks will have all four V Series center consoles on display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Oct. 27-31, led by this Kingston Grey V-46 with quad Mercury 450Rs. The flagship of the fleet, the Valhalla 46 has quickly established itself as the new premier high-performance luxury center console from 45 to 50 feet.

The deck layout stresses freedom of movement and 360-degree fishability while still providing a high level of seating comfort. The console is home to an expansive lounge (with a soothing leg-elevating design) as well as a two-person seat. Moving forward, you have port and starboard bench seats that can also be used as lounges thanks to their Release Marine teak backrests. The upholstery is top-shelf, featuring custom shades of grey and white along with Diamond/Bentley stitching.

The V-46’s helm is unrivaled in this market segment, especially when it comes to visibility, operator ergonomics and aesthetic design. With its significant size, the Valhalla 46 has ample room for two rows of seating under the custom hardtop. The Release Marine teak helm chairs (with individual armrests and folding bolsters) have been a huge hit with owners.

The cockpit is yet another area where seating versatility and fishing prowess are highly evident, with aft-facing mezzanine seating providing the perfect location to take in the fishing action while staying clear of the anglers. A pair of seats flanking the dual 54-gallon transom live wells can quickly be folded up to maximize deck space.

The comfort continues inside the console, which boasts air conditioning, excellent headroom (6’7”), abundant natural light and a galley with all the conveniences you’ll need to whip up a meal for family or friends. The dinette converts into a queen-size berth, and there’s a 32-inch HD TV on the forward bulkhead.

The V-46’s walk-in machinery room stands out as a ground-breaking engineering and design development in the center console market, keeping mechanical and electrical systems protected in one well-lit, easily accessible location.
An evolution of Viking excellence, Valhalla Boatworks consists of the V-33, V-37, V-41 and V-46. For more on the V Series, please contact your authorized Valhalla Boatworks dealer.

Viking Announces 38 Billfish Unveiling in February

November 6, 2018 By InTheBite Editor

The Viking Yacht Company is proud to announce the addition of three new boats to its industry-leading sportfishing fleet: the 38 Billfish, 38 Open and 46 Billfish. The 38 Billfish is an evolution of the highly successful 37 Billfish and another example of Viking faithfully carrying out its mission to build a better boat every day.

Viking President and CEO Pat Healey delivered the news to the Viking dealer network moments before the gates opened for the first day of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The 38 Billfish was designed and built with the same DNA as its predecessor. As owner/operator vessels, they offer simplicity and ease of maintenance, serving as ready-to-go fishing machines as well as versatile cruising boats with reliable inboard diesel power.

Like her convertible brethren, the 38 Billfish’s flybridge is designed with a tournament-style center console walk-around helm. One helm chair is standard and two are optional.

The 38 Billfish’s command deck holds a salon-like living area that includes a port-side U-shaped dinette and a fiberglass hi-lo table. The cockpit is the largest in its class-109 square feet with mezzanine seating. Below, there’s a large forward stateroom available with either a single queen bed or optional crossover bunks and two hanging lockers; an L-shaped galley; and a head with enclosed shower.

The 38 Billfish and 38 Open share the same hull, cockpit and have a similar mechanical arrangement but differ in command deck and bridge configurations.

The 38 Open’s command deck also has ample seating, with port and starboard L-shaped lounges and storage below. A raised centerline command station gives the driver excellent sightlines. Accommodations include a forward stateroom with a lower double bunk and upper single and a hanging locker; a starboard-side sofa with storage; a port-side galley; and a head with enclosed shower.

Soon to join the 38 Billfish and 38 Open is the 46 Billfish, another exciting new model with sharp styling, exciting performance and legendary Viking quality. During the 37 Billfish‘s 2-year run of success, demand grew for this style of a Viking in a larger size. “The 46 was a natural progression for the Billfish,” says John Leek IV, General Manager of Viking Mullica where the Billfish series is being manufactured. “Our customers really grasped onto the philosophy behind these boats.”

The 38 Billfish will make her debut at the Viking VIP, hosted by the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida, February 1st and 2nd. Introductions of the 46 Billfish and 38 Open are slated for later in 2019 and both will debut during the fall boat show season.

Parents of Lost Teens Advocate EPIRB Law

November 9, 2015 By InTheBite Editor

aplogoBy Jim Flannery (From Trade Only Today)

The parents of 14-year-old Austin Blu Stephanos, who was lost at sea with a friend July 24 in a squall off Jupiter, Fla., are working with two Florida lawmakers to introduce a bill that would give boaters an annual 25 percent discount on their boat registration fee if they own a properly registered 406 MHz EPIRB.

“Right now our goal is getting the bill passed,” Austin’s mother, Carly Black, of Tequesta, Fla., said Friday at beacon maker ACR Electronics’ booth at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

Austin’s father, Blu Stephanos, was in Tallahassee Friday, meeting with Sen. Joe Negron and Rep. Marylynn Magar on a bill for the spring session of the Florida legislature.

“We also are working with ACR to educate people about [emergency] beacons,” Black said. “We want to help parents — we want to help anyone — not have to go through what we’ve had to go through.”

Stephanos and Perry Cohen, who also was 14, were the best of friends who often fished and dived and boated together. They went out Jupiter Inlet on July 24 in Austin’s 19-foot outboard to fish on the ocean and were lost, probably in a vicious squall that swept through the area. Rescuers found the boat two days later off Daytona Beach, but not the boys.

The boys were not carrying an emergency beacon.

ACR is donating $10 for every EPIRB it sells through the end of the year to the AustinBlu Foundation, which Stephanos and Black have founded to raise awareness and promote educational programs to improve boater safety, particularly among young people.

“The ocean was the love of [Austin’s] life,” the foundation’s website said. “The lesson of his life is to take every precaution when enjoying the majesty, beauty and power of the oceans.”
