Catching Live Tinker Mackerel
More on Catching Tinker Mackerel
Great post about catching tinker mackerel. We fish out of Ocean City, MD and are looking to try live baiting. Would you be able to help us determine which bait is a tinker mackerel on the fishfinder? We are using both Chirp and regular transducers. Can you describe what the tinkers look like on the bottom machine, or post a screen shot of what the marks look like? Thanks!

Don, here’s a couple screen shots of tinkers on the fishfinder from yesterday’s trip. The first shot you can see a scratch right on the bottom. The second shot the fish are stacked up. The tinkers aren’t always on the bottom; sometimes they are suspended a few fathoms off the bottom and sometimes they are holding higher in the water column. Hope this helps. –Ric Burnley
