Michael Rybovich & Sons: III Amigos

January 4, 2022 By InTheBite Digital Editor

Four generations have persevered in keeping the Rybovich family business afloat and hull #6 built at the Michael Rybovich & Sons yard represents many significances. This functionally luxurious 94-footer is the largest boat ever built by the Rybovich clan and the first to feature an enclosed flybridge.

III Amigos is also the first Rybovich to display a straight-sheer profile since Almar was splashed in 2007 and incorporates design cues from the family’s first naval architect and marine engineer—Dusty Rybovich. Despite the many novelties, III Amigos is a classic Rybovich through and through, retaining a clean foredeck, moderately raked house and cold-molded construction techniques.

Splash Report: 78’ Michael Rybovich and Sons Persistence

March 20, 2020 By InTheBite Editor

Running shot of 78 Rybovich Persistence

The latest build from Michael Rybovich and Sons Persistence is another masterpiece from the first family in custom sportfishing boats. She is state-of-the-art in every way and as you step aboard you can’t help but notice the highest quality fit and finish found only on a Rybovich. The four-stateroom layout and quarter sawn teak throughout can only be described as beautiful. Every cabinet, seam and joinery is as close to perfection as you can build. The Persistence is a meticulously hand-crafted fishing machine.

As the current Captain, Tyler Andresen explains, “from the bilge to the helm, everything is done with the utmost attention to detail. Persistence is by far one of the nicest boats I’ve ever run. When it comes to operating her she maintains any set speed with zero deviation, regardless of the sea conditions. Short chop or a big nasty swell, you just push her bow down and you get that soft dig through the waves without any chine pounding whatsoever.”

Persistence is equipped with the latest and greatest equipment and at the heart of her soul is a pair of the MTU M96L 2600 hp power package. She clips 50 knots on the pins. The Persistence will split her time based out of Florida in the winter and then chasing tuna in the Northeast during the summer and fall.

February 11, 2020 By InTheBite Editor

For those of you who are hands-on, Captain Andresen was kind enough to share a few quick tips from a decade of teak experience. His number one and most important tip is you need a good quality sander. As with most jobs, teak deck sanding takes time and of course attention to detail.

Video: Classic 1961 Rybovich Miss Budweiser Burns Up

June 7, 2017 By InTheBite Editor

June 6, 2017 Happy to report everyone onboard was unharmed. She was a classic and will be missed.

(The info and video below is being shard via an e-mail from Pat Rybovich) The video was taken by a friend of mine, Ed Merrel who saw a boat in flames, not knowing that it was Miss Budweiser. In the Rybovich book Ed tells the story of how back in the 1950s Cuba he and his dad fell in love with Rybovich boats that fished the early Hemingway Tournaments. It is ironic that Miss Budweiser was just returning from the recent Hemingway Tournament in Cuba when Ed saw and filmed the tragic sight of Miss Budweiser as she burst into flames.

Miss Budweiser (1961 Rybovich Hull #49) was an extraordinary boat with a rich pedigree. The Busch family told stories of the many celebrities, like Frank Sinatra, being entertained on the Miss Bud. She was truly Rybovich royalty.

Thank God no one was hurt in the devastating fire. Our heart and prayers go out to the Busch family.
