Capt. Patrick Price Memorial

May 9, 2022 By InTheBite Magazine

patrick price reef project

By Dave Powell, Captain Patrick Price Reef Project Manager

On Sept. 6, 2021, Capt. Patrick Price passed away from COVID-19. Soon thereafter, a group of about 100 boat owners, captains, and fishermen, all friends of Pat’s, got together for afternoon beer in front of Fish Heads Tackle Shop. Their goal was to come up with a memorial to honor their good friend.

An artificial reef project was at the top of their list in addition to a boat parade. A couple of these friends of Pat contacted me, knowing I have a long history of managing artificial reef projects and am Vice President of the Mac Reef Fund.

May 17, 2018 By InTheBite Editor

[Stuart, Fla. — April 12, 2018]  Mike Matlack, owner of Gamefisherman, Inc. has recently announced the sale of his company to Erwin Gerards and Scott Dunnuck.  Matlack has been at the helm of Gamefisherman since it was formed in 1985 and has built many legendary sport fishing boats; many of these boats are currently traveling the world over.  Matlack is currently in the process of finishing a 50 foot Express and will remain with Gamefisherman to supervise and finish the project, and ensure a smooth transition.

Gerards, who, among other high profile builders, has designed for Mike since 2008.  Dunnuck, has owned, operated, and maintained many custom sport fishing boats.  They are working on releasing a new line of composite Sport Fishing boats purposely designed and built for today’s demands.  The Next Generation Gamefisherman’s are a perfect blend of sport with all the creature comforts. Simple, but functional with clean lines and ultimate performance.

The new line of 43 foot models will be built of 100% advanced composite materials utilizing today’s construction techniques to reduce build time without sacrificing quality.  The 43’ Nex Gen models will include a Walk-Around inboard or outboard,  Express inboard or outboard, and Flybridge inboard with several interior layouts.   In addition, Gamefisherman will continue to be available to build your ultimate custom model, in a variety of sizes.

Gerards and Dunnuck are both very grateful to Matlack for this opportunity to keep his line of legendary sport fishing boats accessible for many years to come.  For more information on what Gamefisherman is up to and how we are preparing to grow within the industry, please call (772) 220-4850 or if you are in the area, stop by our shop in Stuart, Fla. To connect with us on social media, like Gamefisherman on Facebook, and begin following us on Instagram – @gamefisherman.

Two-Time Captain of the Year Winner – Glenn Cameron

March 13, 2018 By InTheBite Editor

Two-time Captain of the Year Glenn Cameron and his wife Jennifer proved that they are not only a formidable tournament team, but throw a great party as well. The Camerons hosted the 2017 Contender Florida Division Captain of the Year Party on Saturday March 10 at Fish Heads Marina in Stuart.  What a party it was.

About a 150 people came out to celebrate Capt. Glenn’s 2017 Award. The party included an open bar, a live band, and two giant 5’ vats of paella cooked on-site by the fine folks at Paella Grill. The festivities were a who’s who of the Stuart fishing community and a really good time.

InTheBite would like to especially thank Jennifer Cameron, Glenn’s wife, whose expertise in throwing a party is only matched by her skill catching sailfish. Congratulations Capt. Glenn Cameron and Mate of the Year JJ Davidson and the whole Floridian team.

Last Day Marlin Wins World Record Payout … Again

For the second year in a row, the last white marlin weighed netted a world record purse. In 2021, Sushi out of Ocean City, MD, took the top white marlin at the last minute and at the time collected (a then world record payout) of $3,200,000 for catching a fish. That record payout lasted just 10 months when angler Matthew... [Read More...]

    CY55 Debuts From Composite Yacht

The new Composite Yacht CY55 reaches a top speed of 54.9 knots, a speed potentially not yet seen by conventionally driven diesel sportfishing boats. To endure the loads a boat of this size and weight must support at these speeds, the vessel has a carbon... [Read More...]

Tackle Tips: DIY Outrigger Tune Up
