The South Carolina Governor’s Cup circuit is always a hotly contested one. Marlin bites are usually few and far between so teams have to make the most of every single opportunity in order to be successful. So far this year that’s been the keys to success for Capt. Matt Wilkinson and the Miss Wy team.
In The Spread
“In the tournaments we normally run six lines but we’ll switch it up depending on what’s going on. Two dredges, two squid chains and six artificials. We fish a mix of lures with a lot of [Black] Barts in there. I think all our tournament fish were caught on Barts.”
“We just have a great bunch of guys that fish well together. They all work hard and can do the other jobs on the boat too—they really work well together as a team. In the [Georgetown] tournament we pretty much caught everything we saw. We were seven for nine in six days of fishing. Ed Holder is the owner and Mike Turbeville is the mate. Michael Lalich was the angler for five of the blues we’ve caught in the [Governor’s Cup] series. Stokely Holder and Lee Prickett also anglers and they help out in the cockpit too.”
